TRANSFORM is an interdisciplinary research initiative that supports the implementation of Denmark’s Green Tripartite Agreement by developing solutions for a sustainable transition of Danish landscapes. The project brings together expertise from environmental science, agroecology, biology, economics, law, and social sciences to address the complex challenges of balancing agricultural production, biodiversity, climate goals, and water quality.
Working closely with municipalities, farmers, businesses, and civil society, TRANSFORM develops and tests new approaches to land-use planning, governance, and decision-making. Through Living Labs established in three municipalities, the project evaluates digital tools, collaboration models, and policy solutions under real-world conditions, ensuring that research is translated into practical action.
The project aims to strengthen the knowledge base for land-use decisions, support sustainable and economically viable agricultural systems, and promote governance frameworks that enable a faster and more integrated green transition. A key ambition is to create scalable solutions that can be adopted across Denmark, helping to achieve national and international targets for climate, biodiversity, and environmental protection.
Coordination: University of Copenhagen (PI, professor Henrik Vejre, KU-IGN), Aarhus University (co-PI, professor Tommy Dalgaard, AU-AGRO) and SEGES Innovation (CO-PI, Assistant Director Irene Wiborg), in collaboration with a long range of private and public partners.
