Land-CRAFT welcomes new theme leader in Landscape Modelling Framework
Professor Clarie Treat has joined the Land-CRAFT team from the Alfred Wegener Institute in Germany.
We are so happy to announce that Claire Treat has just joined AU as a full Professor in Biogeochemical Modelling in the Department of Agroecology on September 1st 2024. She is coming from a position as Deputy Head of the Permafrost Research Section and Young Research Group Leader for Permafrost Region Greenhouse Gas Flux at the Alfred Wegener Institute. She received her Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire, followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Eastern Finland, as well as a research scientist position at the University of New Hampshire. Her research focuses on model-data comparisons to understand biogeochemical processes, particularly soil carbon cycling, which has significant implications for global climate feedbacks.
Prof. Claire Treat will be the Theme Leader for the modelling theme at Land-CRAFT. Her research complements the PIs of Land-CRAFT as she has experience in measurements and experimental approaches as well as modelling. Her research at the Center will help better understand the existing landscape-level heterogeneity in Denmark and how this affects biogeochemical processes. Prof. Claire Treat will lead the development of an interface and system to make measurements and data relevant for stakeholders, a key goal for Land-CRAFT.
She is an outstanding researcher with a broad field of interest and an impressive research network. Welcome, Claire!
