Land-CRAFT to partner with the "Danske Landbrugsskoler" on a project involving the future green transition actors

An innovative partnership between Land-CRAFT, Danske Landbrugsskoler and other relevant actors on a new development project "Landbrugsuddannelsen som grobund for grønne forandringsagenter" to strengthen the content and learning environment of the agricultural education.

Danish agriculture is facing multiple challenges and changes in the near future, where both generational change and the green transition are key elements. The new Green Tripartite Agreement addresses these challenges by realizing the potential for modern farmers in technology and other instruments or tools. Therefore, the organization Danske Landbrugsskoler, representing all Danish agricultural schools, have joined forces with relevant scientific environments in a new project: “Landbrugsuddannelsen som grobund for grønne forandringsagenter”. The project is supported by Novo Nordisk Fonden and has the objective of strengthening the educational content, as well as preparing the young farmers to become land managers. The project aims at helping the agricultural students and apprentices gain experience with green production methods and technologies by integrating hands on learning about green cultivation methods and technologies into teaching at all levels of the education. In practice, these learning goals will be met by development of a simulating tool fed with green data (eg. retention maps) underlying the importance of understanding biological processes and the effects of different climate- and environmental practices. Read about the project here.

As part of the project Land-CRAFT will develop a digital twin of a farm that will allow users to simulate different farm operations and study their impact on the environment in terms of nitrate leaching, emissions of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide, or ammonia volatilization. We will also consider aspects of soil health (indicated by changes in soil carbon stocks) or biodiversity and economics. These are the areas in which Land-CRAFT’s expertise lies. We are delighted to be partnering with the Danske Landbrugsskoler organization on this project and are looking forward to the opportunity to involve the farmers of tomorrow in our research.
